Dr. Johansson is a holistically minded chiropractic physician that seeks to look at the whole body when treating his patients. He recognizes that there are many aspects to health and disease including mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual components. While the focus of his chiropractic practice is geared toward returning patients to function and eliminating pain, he also has a special interest in helping patients with lifestyle modifications, and ultimately, providing patients with new knowledge to be their own best caretaker.
Dr. Johansson has studied and practiced physical and energetic medicine for over 18 years including massage, acupuncture, and chiropractic. Dr. Johansson began his formal education with the intention of studying Oriental medicine and while earning his undergraduate degree in Medicine and Alternative Thought, began his formal apprenticeship in Oriental medicine. Over the course of the next six years he studied and practiced in a clinical setting a span of subjects including: meridian therapy/acupuncture, massage/tui na, nutrition, Tai Chi Gung, and herbology.
To balance out the eastern understanding of health and disease, Dr. Johansson went on to study a western-minded approach and attended the University of Western States (UWS) to earn his Doctor of Chiropractic. While in chiropractic school, Dr. Johansson worked to integrate and challenge himself with evidenced-based approaches to patient care. Within his practice, Dr. Johansson seeks to bring together the totality of his training to benefit the patient as well as working with the other practitioners in the area in order to best serve our patients.
Dr. Johansson was born and raised on the continental divide in the Colorado Rockies, where he was blessed to be immersed in the wonders and splendor of pristine nature. Growing up skiing, hiking, fishing and camping, Dr. Johansson knew there was a natural balance to the world and ourselves. He is also an avid martial artist, has earned teaching ranks in multiple arts, is a certified yoga instructor and works to incorporate the benefits of mind-body training into his practice. Dr. Johansson now enjoys the Big Sky country of Montana and surrounding areas with his children through hiking, horse riding, fishing, gardening and simply being in the beauty of Missoula and Montana.
